Minister Of Foreign Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial Replaced With Hon. Awut Deng Achuil

President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit sacked Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial and appointed Hon. Awut Deng Achuil as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In the same decree SPLM Acting Secretary General, Jemma Nunu Kumba appoint as the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.

The president also appointed Alfred Akuoch Omoli, as the new minister of wildlife, replacing Jemma Nunu Jumba, who held the post since 2016.

Lastly, Simon Mijok Mijak was appointed as minister of roads and bridges, replacing Rebecca Joshua Okwaci, who came to office in April 2016.

In another decree, the South Sudanese leader removed Twic State Governor Atem Madut Yak and appointed Jacob Madhol Lang as the new governor. Kiir also appointed Timothy Taban Juch as the new governor of Akobo State.


Hon. Awut Deng Achuil is the former Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.

Awut Deng served as South Sudan’s Minister of Labor and Public Service from 2009 to 2011, taking the role held by David Deng Athorbe.

She was again appointed to the Cabinet of South Sudan on 10 July 2011. She was sworn in as Minister for Labour, Public Service on 14 September 2011.
