President Salva Kiir Mayardit inaugurated first ever power plant in Juba City | Presidency

The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday, inaugurated the long-awaited power plant distribution in the national Capital, Juba.

The power distribution station which is located at Kondokoro village of Mangala County is operated by Ezra Construction and Development Group Ltd, was funded by the African Development Bank.

The chairperson of organizing committee who is also the undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Dams said, South Sudan is one of the richest countries in minerals and hydro-electric potentials adding that ninth percent of the population have no access to electricity.

The Country Director of the Africa Development Bank, Benedict, said ADB have so far funded thirteen developmental projects in South Sudan.

The power distribution plant cost thirty-eight million USD which is in grant to the government and people of South Sudan.
